Armstrong discussed the homicide that occurred on Sunday, July 17, 2022, in the 2000 block of 13th Avenue. Update: King Estates Shooting The Oakland Police Department (OPD) was notified by the Alameda County Coroner's Office that the cause of death for Kazuhiro David Sakurai, was “Complications of Gunshot Wound.” Sakurai was shot at the King Estates school campus on September 28, 2022. The Oakland Police Department (OPD) is investigating an officer-involved shooting (OIS) that occurred just after 4:00 p.m. on February 24, 2025, in the 900 block of 92nd Avenue. OPD officers initially responded to calls from residents stating a man was pointing a firearm at community members in the area. Once on the scene, responding officers located the armed individual.
