The Carmel High School graduate who went onto become a Carmel magistrate before being elected as a County Court and State Supreme Court Justice, passed away after suffering a massive coronary while seated on the bench at the Putnam Courthouse six years ago this June.

Byrne Calls on State to Expand Funding Programs
Feb 11, 2025 · County Executive Kevin Byrne has called on state lawmakers to restore and expand critical funding programs including the Consolidated Local Street and Highway Improvement Program (CHIPS), Bridge-NY, Extreme Winter Recovery, Pave-NY, and Pave Our Potholes. Byrne testified at the state joint legislature’s public hearing on the 2025 Executive Budget on Transportation last week.

You effectively outlined the major failures of this legislative body. It is beyond the pale for an elected county legislature to stifle dissent and punish fellow members for their opinions and/or personality.
