Two men in the Philippines wading neck-deep in water after roads became flooded from tropical Storm Wipha

As of July 20 morning, three people were reported dead in the Philippines, while three were injured and three others missing due to the effects of Wipha.

Typhoon Wipha, despite not making landfall, has caused widespread damage and loss in the Philippines, killing five people and leaving seven missing. According to the Philippine National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council,

Typhoon Wipha has toppled trees and caused major flight disruptions in Hong Kong and at some nearby airports in China as it moved west off the country’s southern coast.

Wipha intensified into a severe tropical storm as it blew away from the Philippines on Saturday, bringing strong winds and heavy rains to many areas, including Metro Manila.

Vietnam is preparing for Typhoon Wipha, with emergency alerts in coastal provinces and flight cancellations. The typhoon threatens to bring severe weather, including heavy winds and floods, to northern mountainous regions and urban areas.

Rains from Typhoon Wipha pounded Hong Kong on Sunday as the storm skirted southwards before making landfall on the coast of China's Guangdong province, leaving fallen trees and scaffolding and sending over 200 people to seek refuge at temporary shelters.
