Two years ago — impossible. But against the odds, Miami and Indiana have a date in the College Football Playoff final — a first-of-its-kind matchup on Jan. 19 in the second national title game of the expanded-playoff era.
Cignetti was asked how older transfers have contributed to Indiana’s success. He was hired away from James Madison in 2024. Indiana brought in over 30 new players that first season, including 13 from JMU. For this season, Cignetti added another 23 or so players out of portal, including quarterback Fernado Mendoza from Cal.
Indiana football never beats itself. To beat the Hoosiers requires perfection. Nobody's proven up for the challenge — all the way to the national title game.
