Apple Inc. faces escalating pressure from President Donald Trump to do what many analysts insist would be nearly impossible: move production of its iconic iPhone to the US from overseas.

President Donald Trump threatened to put a 25% tariff on Apple products unless iPhones are manufactured in the United States.

But it is a risky bet. Although trade talks between the US and the EU had been moving slowly, Trump’s threat to put 50 per cent tariffs on all imports from the bloc from June 1 has raised the economic and diplomatic stakes dramatically.
