Shane Bieber's career in Cleveland is over. The Guardians get a new starting pitcher from the Blue Jays in return.

CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Guardians have traded former Cy Young winner Shane Bieber to the Blue Jays. Bieber, who won the Cy Young in 2020, has been recovering from Tommy John surgery since April of 2024. He made a rehab start for Class AA Akron on Tuesday in which he threw four innings.

The 2025 MLB trade deadline passed at 6 p.m. July 31 after a day of high activity all around the league. For the Guardians, it was a deadline of some give-and-take as they positioned themselves for 2025 and beyond.
