As the 4-Nations Face-Off tournament and the resulting break loom in February, the Tampa Bay Lightning are seeking one key as January comes to a close: normalcy.

The Tampa Bay Lightning have recalled goaltender Matt Tomkins from the Syracuse Crunch, the team announced Thursday. Tomkins, a native of Edmonton, Alta., has spent the entire season with the Crunch, posting a record of 6-8-4 to go along with a 2.87 GAA and a .900 SP in 17 appearances.

According to Benjamin Pierce of the Tampa Bay Lightning, goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy (illness) is viewed as a game-time decision on Thursday for their contest against the Los Angeles Kings. No. 2 goaltender Jonas Johansson (lower body) is also in questionable status for this game.

The Tampa Bay Lightning have announced that goaltender Jonas Johansson is out on a day-to-day basis with a lower-body injury. While the specifics of the injury and the cause of it weren’t mentioned, it’s likely that Johansson sustained the injury during the Lightning’s 4-1 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday.

Vasilevskiy (illness) will start at home versus the Kings on Thursday, Gabby Shirley of FanDuel Sports Network Florida & Sun reports. Vasilevskiy was unable to suit up Tuesday, but it appears he's healthy enough to take Thursday's start.
