An American Airlines regional jet went down in the Potomac River near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.

Two Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority employees have been arrested after a leaked video showing the deadly midair collision between a military helicopter and a commercial jet aired on television.

Two of the victims of the deadly collision have been identified as Bob and Lori Schrock, who were Kansas residents who owned property in Oklahoma. Michael Simpson, a friend of the couple, said that Bob Schrock became a role model and a big part of his life.

Air traffic controllers asked Flight 5342 to switch runways when coming in to land. Black box recordings from the jet and the military helicopter it collided with will help reveal whether this contributed to the accident.
