Lunar Trailblazer, an orbiter that shared a launch on Wednesday with the commercial Athena lander, will help scientists understand where the moon’s water is, and what form it takes.

NASA launched a lunar orbiter Wednesday night that will trace the Moon's elusive water cycle. Lunar Trailblazer, a collaboration between NASA, Northern Arizona University, and Lockheed Martin Space, is now on a meandering path toward the Moon's orbit,

Edwards was part of the team that pitched the Lunar Trailblazer Mission to NASA in 2019. The goal was to find projects that could provide valuable insight with a more modest budget, with many expeditions costing upward of a billion dollars. This particular project was pitched at below $100 million, Edwards said.
