Taiwan on Monday banned government departments from using Chinese startup DeepSeek's artificial intelligence (AI) service as it was a security risk, toughening language from last week which said it should not be used.

DeepSeek AI, a rapidly growing Chinese artificial intelligence startup, has come under scrutiny as three countries — Australia, Italy, and Taiwan — have taken measures to ban its services, citing national security and data privacy concerns.
