But unlike Thursday when the Wolves took control in the third, Cleveland wrestled the game from the Wolves out of the half. The Wolves’ ball movement on offense stagnated and the Cavaliers got Rudy Gobert in foul trouble. The Wolves had 11 made field goals in the third quarter but just three assists.

Minnesota (25-14) entered Saturday’s affair with the fifth-best defense in the NBA, but Cleveland’s spacing and shooting gave the Wolves fits last season, and the Cavaliers (22-18) do seem to be slowly creeping toward the level of play that earned them the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs a season ago.

Tomlin, 25, has emerged as a decent bench piece for Cleveland in a turbulent year. He is averaging 6.1 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 0.6 assists in 15.2 minutes of action. On a two-way contract, the Kansas State and Memphis product has even made the second and third starts of his NBA career.
