Philadelphia 76ers forward Lonnie Walker IV opens up on his internal journey back to the NBA after going overseas.

Lonnie Walker IV spent the summer with the Boston Celtics as part of their preseason squad, after signing an Exhibit 10 contract.

The Philadelphia 76ers made a move during the All-Star break to bring in Lonnie Walker IV back from overseas. A 2018 first-round pick, Walker spent six seasons in the league playing for the San Antonio Spurs,

Walker described his path to the Sixers as “surreal.” The 26-year-old shooting guard was far from the first to hear the news. His expectation was that he’d stick with Lithuanian team Žalgiris Kaunas for the entire season.

Walker, who was in training camp with the Celtics before playing in Lithuania, scored 17 points against Boston.

The Philadelphia 76ers will reportedly sign Lonnie Walker IV to a 2-year $3 million deal after he spent time overseas.

Walker grew up watching the Sixers. The Wells Fargo Center was one of the first places he ever dunked, as a sixth-grader for Team Final. The fact that it’s his re-entry point to the NBA at a time when he’s old enough to be a veteran but young enough to still provide a spark only compounds the joy.
