Virgin Media O2 has apologised after thousands in the UK reported they were unable to access the internet. Downndetector, which tracks websites, showed more than 10,000 people reported their broadband was not working on Monday morning.

Thousands of Virgin Media customers are currently without internet access after a service outage hit this morning, with the company saying it is "working to fix this as a priority"

Downdetector, a site which monitors outages, saw issues spike across thre three providers, with Virgin the worst affected.

Virgin Media customers are currently experiencing a loss of internet service. More than 1,000 users have reported the problem on Downdetector, which tracks online service statuses and real-time outages.
