The Ducks have signed young goalie Lukas Dostal to a five-year contract worth $6.5 million per season after trading John Gibson
Dostál, 25, was originally drafted by the Ducks in the third round (85th overall) in the 2018 Draft. He was a solid backup for John Gibson over the last few seasons, with career numbers of 3.29 goals allowed on average, a .902 save percentage, and a 42-58-13 record, although that is more indicative of Anaheim’s lacking skaters in front of him.

In his 13-season NHL career, he's reached or exceeded 20 goals nine times, including a 29-goal performance in 2024-25 on an offensively anaemic Islanders team. He could become a player of interest for the Leafs as they attempt to end their long Stanley Cup drought.

The Ducks have their 2025-26 schedule and will open the season on the road against the Seattle Kraken on Oct. 9. This will be the third consecutive season that the Ducks have begun their season on the road.
The Panthers have beaten the Oilers in back-to-back Stanley Cup Finals, and the regular-season rematches of the past two Cup Finals between the Panthers and Oilers are set for Nov. 22 in Florida and March 19 in Edmonton.
