The American broke Bekele’s 21-year-old indoor world record Friday night in Boston, clocking 12:44.09 just six days after Fisher also broke the world indoor record in the 3000m at the Millrose Games in New York City.

Grant Fisher won the 5,000-meter race at the BU David Hemery Valentine Invitational in 12 minutes, 44.09 seconds, his second world indoor record within a week.
