Heavy rains from Ragasa caused a lake burst its banks in eastern Taiwan, killing at least 14 people and leaving 120 others missing, local media reported. The lake was formed from a landslide in July that was caused by Typhoon Wipha.
Typhoon Matmo has strengthened before making landfall in China, leading to the evacuation of around 347,000 people from Guangdong and Hainan provinces.
One person was killed when Typhoon Kalmaegi hit the central Philippines on Tuesday, the national disaster agency said, as torrential rains, strong winds and storm surges forced tens of thousands to evacuate from their homes.
