Senate Republicans blocked bipartisan war powers resolution to halt President Donald Trump's Caribbean drug boat strikes and possibly future military action without consent from Congress.

The U.S. Senate later this week aims to vote on a drastically scaled-back Republican coronavirus aid bill, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said on Tuesday, despite opposition from Democrats who are needed for any measure to be enacted into law.

Senate Bill 293 would require absentee ballots to arrive by Election Day, eliminating the current window that allowed nearly 9,500 late-arriving votes to count in 2024.
