Travelers at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport are becoming increasingly more nervous after the FAA ordered airlines to reduce flights across the country. Channel 2’s Audrey Washington was at the airport on Thursday where travelers were afraid even if they get to their destination, they may not be able to get back home.

Anxiety is high for some travelers just beginning their vacations in the City Beautiful amid a ten percent reduction in flights set to begin on Friday.

On Wednesday, the FAA and U.S. Department of Transportation announced it would reduce flights by 10% at 40 airports, including Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. There are 12 domestic airlines that fly out of the busiest airport in the world.

PHOENIX — 12News is tracking flight delays at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport on Wednesday. As of 1:42 p.m., the Sky Harbor website reported over 200 flight delays and over 20 cancelled flights. The Government Shutdown, which is now the longest in United States history, is affecting airports and airport staffing across the nation.

WFTV has learned that Orlando International Airport is one of the 40 airports across the country that will experience a 10% reduction of flights by the FAA.
