The Colorado Rockies have had an enormously difficult 2025 season, but many of their prospects have started to find some momentum in the minor leagues.
The Twins enjoyed a stroll in the ballpark Sunday, waltzing to a 7-1 victory over the walk-happy Rockies. Colorado pitchers issued four leadoff walks — three by starter German Marquez — and Minnesota hit four home runs, denying Colorado a rare three-game sweep at Coors Field.

Friday’s win over the Minnesota Twins (47-50) was exactly what the Colorado Rockies (23-74) needed coming out of the All-Star Break. It’s always prudent to put your best foot forward and the boys in Denver will look to win the series at home for the first time this season.
The Colorado Rockies signed their first draft pick from their 2025 class as Southern Miss pitcher J.B. Middleton agreed to a deal.
If the Rockies are indeed aggressive at the MLB trade deadline, it could open the door for the returns of Zac Veen and Chase Dollander as well as possible debuts. The latter could include Kyle Karros getting the call-up from Double-A Hartford to slide in at third base.

Opposing Freeland will be Chris Paddack (3-8, 4.95 ERA), who’s seen up-and-down success this season. While largely pitching very well, Paddack has also allowed at least six earned runs in three different starts in 2025. The most recent of these was his last outing before the break, a five-inning, six-run losing effort against the Chicago Cubs.
The Rockies are the lone team in the Majors who have yet to hold a team scoreless. For reference, the San Diego Padres lead the league with 14 and the second-lowest is the Baltimore Orioles and the Los Angeles Dodgers who have had three on the season.
