Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly on Friday announced she would not run in the race to replace Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, saying she wanted to focus on the threat posed by potential U.S. tariffs.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced Monday he intends to resign from his post but will stay until a new leader of the country's Liberal Party is in place, effectively ending nine years of power.

Trudeau announced his resignation after facing an increasing loss of support from both within his party and in the country.
