A man has died a day after falling from a chairlift that was having a mechanical problem in a Montana ski area. The accident happened just before noon on Monday at Red Lodge Mountain, southeast of Billings in the Beartooth Mountains.

LiftBlog has confirmed that the Triple Chair does not have a safety restraint bar. The chair was built in 1983 and will remain closed while under investigation following the accident. The ski area's old Miami Beach Chair (as seen in the featured image above) did not have a safety bar either.
