The Tuesday morning commute in northern New Jersey could be messy with a mix of snow, sleet and rain, forecasters say.

Snow is expected to start early in the morning and continue through Tuesday morning. The Weather Service said snow will arrive as early as 3 a.m. in Warren County and between 5-6 a.m. in central Pa. "Hazardous travel is expected during the Tuesday morning commute with a plowable snowfall expected," the alerts warn.
Five New Jersey counties are under winter weather advisories for Tuesday's storm. Snow totals of 1 to 6 inches are now expected.
The National Weather Service forecasts a mix of sun, snow, and rain for New York City boroughs, with varying chances of precipitation but without expecting hazardous conditions.

On Monday at 2:01 p.m. an updated winter weather advisory was issued by the National Weather Service valid for Tuesday between 3 a.m. and 1 p.m. for York and Lancaster counties.
