Oil prices surged over 3% on Monday after Israel launched fresh strikes on Lebanon, raising fears of renewed Middle East tensions and potential disruptions to crude flows through the Strait of Hormuz.

Israel struck several military targets in Iran on Sunday, hours after the Islamic Republic launched a barrage of missiles at the Jewish State. The Israeli Defense Forces said its air force struck targets “belonging to the Iranian terror regime” in western and central Iran in a statement on X Sunday evening.

The Israeli and Lebanese governments have agreed to implement a ceasefire, after weeks of deadly fighting between Israel and Hezbollah had imperiled broader negotiations between the U.S. and Iran to end their conflict.
