Severe Tropical Cyclone Zelia is bearing down on the northwest coast of Australia and is likely to make landfall early Friday evening. It’s a monster storm of great concern to Western Australia. Port Hedland is the largest town in the firing line and also our busiest iron ore export port.

Tropical Cyclone Zelia has crossed the Australian coast, unleashing strong winds and heavy rain but a key mining hub has been spared the worst of the impact.

The West Australian mining towns of Karratha and Port Hedland are both at risk of a “direct impact” from Severe Tropical Cyclone Zelia, which is expected to make landfall on Friday afternoon.
