Bill Belichick Hires New Offensive Coordinator For UNC Staff
Bill Belichick picked an experienced coach in hopes of enjoying a smoother second season at North Carolina. UNC named Bobby Petrino its new offensive coordinator on Friday. Belichick celebrated the move in the school’s announcement.
With the NFL hiring cycle in full gear, North Carolina head coach Bill Belichick once again ruled out an exit from Chapel Hill.

Bobby Petrino has been named North Carolina's new offensive coordinator for coach Bill Belichick. Petrino joins the Tar Heels after two seasons as offensive coordinator at Arkansas, where he also served as interim head coach of the Razorbacks for their last seven games this season.
In November, NFL insider Josina Anderson said at least two teams were interested in speaking with Belichick for a head coaching opportunity. However, Belichick said he was committed to his job at UNC. If at any point Belichick were to change his mind, a team would have to pay the school a $1 million buyout.
Belichick appeared on the Let’s Go podcast on the heels of these NFL moves. He was asked by host Jim Gray about a potential return to the pros and how he handles negative recruiting from other college program around the possibility of him walking away from the Tar Heels.
