The longest stretch of bitterly cold temperatures so far this season will continue into Friday... Arctic air and dangerously cold wind chills will continue for the next few days...with accumulating snow becoming less of a concern after Tuesday night.

Arctic air will tighten its grip across the region with frigid temperatures and dangerously cold wind chills expected through Tuesday morning.An ALERT DAY is in place through the morning hours as dangerously cold wind chills of -35° to -40° are expected.

Northeasterly winds will persist into Wednesday as high pressure moves in and remains in place. Cold temperatures will continue into Wednesday as well with widespread highs only in the 20s. Winds will diminish Wednesday evening and thus wind chill values should not be as bad as tonight but still falling below zero for many.
